Shenise Johnson to Be Inducted into Section V Basketball Hall of Fame

Indiana Fever star Shenise Johnson is to be inducted as part of the 2018 Section V Basketball Hall of Fame class on Oct. 27 in Pittsford, N.Y. Section V comprises the NYSPHSAA area surrounding Johnson’s hometown of Rochester, N.Y., and Rush-Henrietta High School.

A two-time first team all-state selection, Johnson is regarded as one of the best girls players ever produced in New York State. She is part of an 18-member 2018 induction class.

A three-time all-state selection, she is seventh among Section V’s all-time leading scorers in girls basketball. Rush-Henrietta won three state titles during her time, before she moved on to the University of Miami.

Johnson was named an All-American by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and New York State’s Ms. Basketball in 2008, before becoming the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year at the University of Miami.

Drafted with the fifth overall pick in the 2012 WNBA Draft by the San Antonio Stars, Johnson was acquired by the Fever in a trade prior to the 2015 season.
