Indiana Fever Conducts Historic Draft Night

— Draft Party and Live Coverage from NYC Highlight 2018 Draft Celebration

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Fever will conduct a WNBA Draft Party on Thursday, April 12 at Brothers Bar & Grill (255 S. Meridian Street), welcoming fans to celebrate Indiana’s historic draft night with the No. 2, No. 8 and No. 14 overall draft selections.

Never before has Indiana owned a pair of selections among the draft’s first eight picks, nor have the Fever ever had three of the first 14 selections. The Fever, in fact, are the only club in league history to endure a drought of longer than a decade without a top-four pick. And while Indiana has had only five top-eight picks in its 18-year history, it will have two on Thursday night.

The draft is historic for the Fever who, over the past 12 years, boast an average draft position of 11.8 — in a 12-team league. Indiana will pick twice in the first round and close its draft with the 14th overall selection. The No. 2 pick represents Indiana’s highest draft pick since 2005.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., fans are invited to join Fever staff and select veteran players for food, drink, autographs and prizes while the live draft plays out on ESPN2 and ESPNU. First-round draft coverage airs live on ESPN2 at 7:00 p.m., shifting to ESPNU for the second and third rounds at 8:00 p.m. The entire draft will be live streamed on the ESPN App.

From the draft party at Brothers, Fever broadcaster Pat Boylan and star guard Shenise Johnson will conduct a live stream broadcast on the Fever’s Facebook page, with guest appearances from Tiffany Mitchell and Freddy Fever. Within the broadcast and spread over the Fever’s social media assets will be live interviews with the new Fever draft picks, live from the WNBA draft site at Nike’s New York headquarters.

The draft party is open to the public with no age restrictions prior to 9:00 p.m. Guests remaining past 9 p.m., must be 21 or older. All fans receive their first beverage free, courtesy of the Indiana Fever.

Slightly more than two weeks after Thursday evening’s draft, the Fever and the rest of the WNBA will open 2018 training camp on Sunday, April 29.
