The Indiana Fever travel to Connecticut for their fifth game in eight days. Indiana looks to get its first win of the season, while Connecticut hopes to start their 2018 season at 3-0. The Fever’s Kelsey Mitchell became the third Fever rookie since 2003 to score at least 20 points in back-to-back games, netting 25 against Washington on Thursday night. Mitchell has scored 16 or more points in three of four games played so far, with Thursday’s total the most by an Indiana rookie since Tan White (26) in 2005.
Storylines & Promotion
• Candice Dupree scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting to join Mitchell as 20-point scorers in the loss to Washington. She also had a team-high seven rebounds. Mitchell shot 9-of-16 from the floor, including 5-of-11 3-point attempts as the Fever’s top scoring duo combined to shoot 17-of-27 (63 percent).
• Indiana’s dymanic “Mitchell duo” scored 38 points combined as Tiffany shot 5-of-13 from the field and Kelsey dropped 9-of-16 against the Mystics. Tiffany’s 13 points produced her third double-digit scoring effort in four games.
• Kelsey Mitchell matched Nadine Malcolm with the seventh-best scoring effort by any Fever rookie, with her 25 points Thursday.
• The Sun have scored over 100 points in their first two games; defeating the Las Vegas Aces 101-65 and the Los Angeles Sparks, Thursday night, 102-94.
• Connecticut had six players, five of them being starters, score in the double figures in their game Thursday. Chiney Ogwumike, playing head-to-head against sister Nneka, led the Sun with 18 points and five rebounds.
• Connecticut leads the series with Indiana, 38-29. The Sun have won the last two games at Mohegan Sun Arena. The last time Indiana beat Connecticut on the road was in June 2016, 88-77.
