The Herbert Simon Family Foundation, Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever are contributors to and will be a significant presence in the $35 million Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.
The Sports Legends Experience was unveiled at a news conference today.
The outdoor, multi-sport, interactive park, which will be adjacent to the Children’s Museum, is expected to open in spring of 2018.
The exhibit featuring the Pacers and Fever, which will include basketball goals of varying heights, will be at the entrance to the Sports Legends Experience. The Sports Legends Pavilion also will highlight the history of the Pacers and Fever.
“The Herbert Simon Family Foundation, Pacers and Fever are proud to be part of this extraordinary sports experience that will create recreational opportunities for our youth while reminding all of the greatness of the legends who have done so much to shape our city’s sports legacy,” said Pacers Sports & Entertainment President and COO Rick Fuson.
Football, tennis, golf, auto racing, soccer, running, baseball and hockey are some of the other sports that will be included. The Sports Legends Experience is being created to encourage health and wellness for youth.
There also will be tributes to 12 sports legends, many of whom will have Indiana backgrounds. Those legends will be announced later this year.
