COLLEGE STATION- The Southeastern Conference today announced the recognition of Texas A&M women's basketball legend Kelly Krauskopf. The SEC will recognize legends from each member institution throughout the season and will recognize them at the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament March 6-10 in Duluth, Ga.
After transferring from Stephen F. Austin where she played for legendary coach Sue Gunter, Kelly Krauskopf became a three-year letter winner in women's basketball under head coach Cherri Rapp. Krauskopf played forward and was a starter her junior and senior seasons.
Those early seasons in the Southwest Conference laid a foundation for future success. After graduating in 1983 from Texas A&M, she remained committed to women's athletics and served as an assistant athletic director for women's sports and marketing at Texas A&M.
In 1990, she joined the Southwest Conference as an assistant commissioner for marketing and was the chief administrator for women's sports.
In 1996, she became the first WNBA Director of Basketball Operations and has since become the President and General Manager for the Indiana Fever.
