Wednesdays tilt is a rematch of the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals in which Indiana won in three games last October. After the Sun earned a Game 1 victory at Mohegan Sun Arena, the Fever used a miracle finish and last-second jumper from Shavonte Zellous to knot the series in Game 2. Back in Uncasville for a decisive Game 3, Indiana overcame the loss of Katie Douglas just minutes into the contest with the help of Jeanette Pohlens 5-of-5 shooting and four 3-pointers as the Fever advanced to the WNBA Finals.

Connecticut is one of three Eastern Conference teams with familiar faces taking over the coaching reigns this season. Besides Bill Laimbeer landing in New York and Mike Thibault shifting from Connecticut to Washington, Anne Donovan begins her first year with the Sun, replacing Thibault.

Fever fans will remember Donovan as Indianas coach in its 2000 expansion season. A former U.S. Olympian and later the 2008 U.S. Olympic coach, Donovan was the Fevers interim coach while the franchises first coach & GM Nell Fortner handled USA coaching duties during the 2000 Olympics. A member of the Womens Basketball Hall of Fame, Donovan later guided the Charlotte Sting, Seattle Storm and New York Liberty before returning to the WNBA this season. She coached at Seton Hall University the past two years.

Wednesdays nationally televised bout on ESPN2 is the second of four national TV dates for the defending WNBA champs in 2013. It is the second of two-in-a-row, counting last Saturdays loss to the Phoenix Sun on ABC.

Wednesdays contest pits a pair of teams hoping to improve upon less than .500 records. Both teams have begun the season with 1-3 records winning their opener and losing their last three games.

Katie Douglas has been diagnosed with a bulging disc in her lower back. She missed games against New York and Phoenix, and remains listed as day-to-day.

Wednesdays game is themed as Dads Night Out, in honor of the upcoming Fathers Day weekend.

Last Games

Fever vs Mercury: Fever vs. Mercury: Playing without 6-foot-8 rookie star Brittney Griner, the Phoenix Mercury turned back the clock on Saturday. The Mercury went with a perimeter-oriented lineup and emphasized an athletic style powered by star guard Diana Taurasi. It resulted in an 82-67 victory over the Indiana Fever at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in a game televised nationally by ABC. Taurasi led Phoenix with 26 points as her team shot 47.7 percent (31-of-65) from the field. DaWanna Bonner had 24 points and Candice Dupree and Lynetta Kizer each contributed 10. Indiana's Shavonte Zellous continued her torrid start to the season, leading the Fever with 29 points, a career high for the regular season. She connected on 10-of-13 shots, including 6-of-7 from 3-point range.

Sun vs. Mystics: Although Washington Coach Mike Thibault insisted his return to Connecticut for the first time since being fired as Sun coach after 10 years last November was all business, his new team still wanted to win for him. Ivory Latta scored nine of her 17 points in the final seven minutes as the Mystics (2-1) rallied to beat the short-handed Sun 66-62 on Friday night. Monique Currie had 10 points and five rebounds and Latta also had seven rebounds.

Series

Indiana trails the all-time regular-season series with Connecticut, 29-19, including three losses in four games in 2012. Connecticut has won four of the past five meetings between the teams, though the Fever has won three of the past four at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Sun is the only team in the WNBA with a winning record on Indianas home floor (13-11). In the playoffs, Indiana has captured two of three series with Connecticut, including the East Finals in 2012. Indiana also won a conference semifinal series over the Sun in 2007, which featured four overtime periods in three games. The clubs are tied 4-4 in postseason play with the Fever owning a 3-1 mark on its home floor.
