Storylines & Promotions

Indiana visits East-leading Chicago on Tuesday in what is the second of two consecutive bouts with the Sky. Indiana beat the Sky 79-58 last Saturday in Indianapolis to even the season series at 1-1. Chicago beat the Fever, 71-61, on June 22 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The teams will meet once more on Sept. 6.

Tuesdays game is the Fevers third of five games in a 10-day stretch between August 1 and August 10. Though Indiana played its first 17 games in just over two months (69 days), the second half is a more compressed schedule with its final 17 dates scheduled within 46 days. For Indiana, nine of its remaining 15 games are on the road.

The Fever won seven of nine games before the All-Star Break, but surrendered a 16-point lead at Connecticut last Thursday to lose for the sixth time this season after holding a lead or tie at intermission. In fact, it was the Fevers third loss while allowing a 16-point comeback. The Fever rebounded though, with a 21-point win Saturday against the Sky, playing for the first time this season with 10 returning players from its 2012 championship team.

A Fever win over the Sky would be Indianas ninth in 12 games, moving Indiana to the .500 mark for the first time since May. Currently in third place in the East, Indiana would move within 3 games of the East-leading Sky with a victory.

A loss would mark the first time Chicago has ever defeated the Fever twice in a season, and would drop Indiana into a potential tie with Washington (9-12, pending Tuesday game at New York).

Seventy-four-and-a-half (74.5) games have been lost by Fever players this season, mostly due to injury, for an average of 3.92 players per game. Nineteen games have been missed by Jessica Davenport, 18 by Jeanette Pohlen and 17 by Katie Douglas; 13 have been missed by Erin Phillips; three have been missed by Layshia Clarendon, three by Tamika Catchings, two by Jessica Breland and a half was missed by Briann January.

Tamika Catchings (896) needs just four steals to become the first WNBA player ever to reach 900 in a career.

Elena Delle Donne remains questionable on Tuesday due to a concussion suffered on July 24 at Washington. Delle Donne has missed the last two games for the Sky.

Last Meeting

Tamika Catchings had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead to lead the defending-champion Fever to a 79-58 win over the short-handed Chicago Sky on August 3. Karima Christmas scored 12 points, including two timely 3-pointers in the third quarter for the Fever. Catchings also had five steals and four blocked shots. Courtney Vandersloot had 11 points to lead the Sky, who were without leading-scorer Elena Delle Donne due to a concussion for the second straight game. Without their star rookie, Chicago struggled to generate enough offense to stay with the Fever. The Sky shot just 33 percent from the field and turned the ball over 14 times. When Indiana opened the second half on a 7-0 run to build a 15-point lead, the Sky couldn't recover. Jeanette Pohlen played for the first time this year against the Sky, giving coach Lin Dunn an additional player off the bench. Pohlen scored seven points in 16 minutes in her season debut. Chicago guard Epiphanny Prince to seven points on 3-of-12 shooting.

Series

Tuesdays matchup is the 32nd meeting between Indiana and Chicago in what has been billed as the I-65 series. The Fever has won 25 of the past 31 games and is 10-4 against the Sky on the road. Indiana has won three straight games at Allstate Arena. The Fever has won seven of the past eight meetings overall, and 14 of 16, including 5-0 marks in both 2010 and 2012.
