Storylines & Promotions

Indiana makes its first visit to Mohegan Sun Arena this season to face to Connecticut Sun for the third of five meetings. The Sun and Fever split previous meetings at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Thursdays game is the first of five games in a 10-day stretch between August 1 and August 10. Though Indiana played its first 17 games in just over two months (69 days), the second half is a more compressed schedule with its final 17 dates scheduled within the next 46 days. For Indiana, 10 of the final 17 are on the road.

The Fever (8-9) won seven of its last nine games before the All-Star Break, rebounding from an injury-riddled 1-7 start to the season. Indiana opens the second half of the season alone in fourth place in the East, just a half game behind third-place Washington (9-9); and a game-and-a-half ahead of fifth-place New York (7-11).

A Fever win over the Sun would be Indianas eighth in 10 games, remarkable considering the streak came immediately after losing 7 of 8 to begin the season. A win would move the Fever all the way back to .500 and result in a 2-1 advantage in the season series with Connecticut. A loss would send Indiana to its 10th loss in 18 games.

The Fever has had eight different players miss action through the seasons first 17 games.

Sixty-six-and-a-half (66.5) games have been lost by Fever players due to injury this season, an average of 3.91 players per game. Seventeen games have been missed by Jeanette Pohlen and Jessica Davenport; 15 have been missed by Katie Douglas; 11 were missed by Erin Phillips; three have been missed by Layshia Clarendon, two by Tamika Catchings, two by Jessica Breland and a half was missed by Briann January.

Briann January (999) needs one point to reach 1,000 points in her career, all with the Fever. She will become the eighth player to score 1,000 points in a Fever uniform.

It was announced last week during the WNBA All-Star game that Indiana Fever coach Lin Dunn is one of six inductees in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2014. She will be inducted on June 14, 2014 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
